Election Wahala – Senator Rochas Okorocha & Uche Nwosu

Senator Rochas Okorocha & Uche Nwosu… An interesting pair.

Election wahala follows them everywhere. Not least because so does the NBM.

Senator Rochas Okorocha (Imo West Senatorial district) was formerly the Imo State Governor. His election to Governorship was marred by various instances of election wahala.

In the beginning of his political ambitions in Imo State Okorocha ran (unsuccessfully) as the candidate for Governor as a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate. He then defected to All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) where he also unsuccessfully ran as President of the party. Then he defected back to PDP.

He then formed his own party… one he could surely win in… Action Alliance (AA) party.

Then defected from his own party back to PDP.

Then defected from PDP to join: All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in 2010

Just a couple of weeks into his APGA membership he was suspended from the party for “Anti-party activities”.

He “stormed the Imo State Secretariat of APGA where he was reported to have unleashed dozens of thugs who beat up several top officers of the Party”

A party press statement read: “(he) not only verbally assaulted the Chairman of the Party but also boasted that you would have killed the State Secretary of the Party, Mr. Mike Nwachukwu and taken his body away in the booth of your car had he been present”

“the thugs you brought along with you to the Party Office, at your instance, physically attacked and brutalized the Owerri Zonal Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Party, Dr. David Iwuagwu while one of the men who came with you and who you introduced as an ‘aspirant’ threatened to kill the Chairman of the Party, with his finger aggressively pointing at him, if for any reason,he fails to secure the ticket of the Party”

Somehow he did “secure the ticket of the Party” and ran and won to be governor of Imo State in 2011. Though only after more elections had to be held due to what the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) determined were “irregularities” in the results.

We can have no idea where he found the dozens of thugs to raid the party office and threaten to kill members of the party should they not install him as leader. Upon becoming Governor he installed NBM member Uche Nwosu as his ‘Chief of Staff’

In 2013 Rochas Okorocha once again defected… This time to All Progressive Congress (APC).

In 2015 he ran for governor again. Winning by a large margin. However another run of elections were ordered by the INEC due to voting station violence and more voting “irregularities”. On the re-run Okorocha won by a much smaller margin.

Uche Nwosu is re-installed as his ‘Chief of Staff’

Uche Nwosu for sure a dependable and key ally of Rochas Okorocha.

At a time when very few public servants in the state  were been paid and pensions to those retired from public service were not been paid (certainly Rochas Okorocha and Uche Nwosu were) State finance was becoming a key issue.

In November of 2015 the dependable Chief of Staff Uche Nwosu hid $4,000,000 (part of a 26 billion niara federal government bail out to the State to pay worker salaries) in his bedroom and claimed it was stolen by his Togolese cook.

Several arrests were made of Nwosu’s security officials but the money or the mysterious Togolese cook never reappeared.

Interested commentators at the time asking: “why must Hon. Nwosu’s bedroom be a bank where the bailout fund meant for suffering Imo workers be kept ,  if not for the purpose of reportedly diverting same which is now said to be missing”

Just prior to this incident questions were been asked of Rochas Okorocha’s relationship with various cult groups in the state.

A commentator at the time stating “Two cult groups – THE VIKINGS and the BLACK AXE are at each other’s throat. They are seriously killing and maiming themselves and nobody seems to know what the problem is this time around. Innocent residents of Owerri have also fallen victims to the ongoing war between the two groups and people now move around in fear.”

“My interest here is not on the two groups that have turned the State capital into a war zone, killing and maiming people; rather my interest is on what the Imo State Government is doing about the situation.

The question on the people’s lips is; what is the State Government doing to stop this war? And I am adding; what is Governor Rochas Okorocha doing to stop this war? What is the Imo State Police Command doing to stop this war? Last year, precisely on the 3rd of June, 2014, the immediate past speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu sent five (5) armed cult boys on the orders of Governor Rochas Okorocha to come and kill me for exposing fraud in government. When the cult boys stormed my compound they ended up killing an innocent young man, Architect Franklin Okoli.”

Following a government security meeting the cultist assassins were identified and it was made known some wrongful arrests had been made but it’s reported “Okorocha went mad and ordered the police not to release anybody. He also ordered the police not to arrest the killers of Architect Franklin Okoli”

“Many Imo citizens and Nigerians believe that the current cult war in Imo State is a deliberate set-up orchestrated allegedly by Governor Rochas Okorocha to divert attention from his real plot which is to have those opposed to his evilcratic, jezebelic and fraud infested leadership eliminated. After all, he has a killer squad controlled by his son-in-law (Mr. Uche Nwosu) who is also the current Chief of Staff.”

Rochas Okorocha made headlines again in 2017 again showing his violent tendencies at Eke Ukwu Owerri Market in the capital of Imo State. He wanted to move the market from it’s historic central location to a more suitable location so the area could be redeveloped.

Rather than making it a matter of a straight forward relocation. Rochas Okorocha deployed “armed personnel including the military and involvement of suspected members of a cultist group in overwhelming unarmed citizens of the host community, as well as traders” and a massacre ensued leaving several dead. Among them a ten year old boy.

Hon Ezenwa Francis Onyewuchi, Member representing Owerri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives described it as a “gestapo-like operation and demolition of Owerri ancestral market, The Eke-Ukwu Owerri, today,  leading to the loss of innocent lives.”

Coming to the end of his term and eyeing more power as a Senator Okorocha stated “that he would use the last drop of his blood to ensure that his son-in-law, Mr. Uche Nwosu succeeds him”

This angered the local population already sensitive to Okorocha’s similarity to that of a dictator.

Angry youths clashed with supporters of Uche Nwosu and set his campaign vehicles ablaze.

Thankfully Uche Nwosu lost. Mr Okorocha was also suspended from APC for his support of him.

The family’s political ambitions were not finished though….

Fast forward to 2019 and Governor Rochas Okorocha gets his senatorial bid underway in full swing. Chief of staff Uche Nwosu providing the muscle and firepower in the form of NBM thugs.

“Governor Rochas Okorocha, yesterday, concluded arrangements with a dreaded cult group known as Black Axe Confraternity, to unleash mayhem on the people of the state in the forthcoming elections to ensure that he wins his Senatorial election by hook or crook.

According to our impeccable source, the meeting held at the Entraco office, Owerri, where Okorocha’s son-in-law, Mr. Uche Nwosu pledged to arm the cultists and give them cover with legitimate security agents.

He was alleged to have promised to arm them with more than enough ammunition”

The NBM would fully utilized. Let’s be clear: When a politician employs NBM cultists to help with their campaign these members of the NBM are not going door to door handing out leaflets. They are employing violence and murder against anybody who stands in your way of victory.

By April 2019 the “pre-election and post election death toll in Imo State has risen to over 20, many others feared dead and there are no assurances in sight that this may be an end to these wanton bloodshed.”

“When Governor Rochas Okorocha told Imo people that he would use the last drop of his blood to ensure that his son-in-law, Mr. Uche Nwosu succeeds him, it was clear to few persons that he meant every word”

“Making real his threat, blood has continued to flow relentlessly in the state”

“It was revealed that a certain loyalist to Okorocha’s son-in-law who was made a local government chairman of Owerri West local government area of the state, whose name is Chidi Ordu but popularly known as Madoka is allegedly the mastermind of what is being tagged as inter-cult clashes. The clash has taken not less than 17 lives.”

“The report has it that statements extracted from some of arrested cultists point to one person. They said no other person other than Okorocha, son-in-law, Uche Nwosu and their monstrous agent of death, Madoka. Madoka is said to be at large”

“the ongoing bloody clashes being experienced may not be unconnected with sharing of the alleged booties of over N45 million from Okorocha’s son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, among all the confraternities but Madoka allegedly chose to give only members of his group, Black Axe Confraternity, also known as the Neo-Black Movement of Africa. Okorocha’s son-in-law is also said to be a member of this deadly Confraternity.”

Uche Nwosu was now attracting some unwanted interest and raising some eyebrows. Many were questioning how he had transformed himself from jobless goat to a man whom “many swore is swimming in riches, just after Eight years he was pounding the streets of Owerri searching for elusive jobs.”

Some of this unwanted interest was from the dreaded Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

“EFCC is beaming its light on a particular Hotel called Westbrook Hotel and a gigantic farm, Ezihe Farm said to belong to Nwosu”

Okorocha also came under the EFCC’s spotlight as the “EFCC ordered Okorocha, his wife and daughter to forfeit some landed property in the State linked to them, allegedly to have been funded with public fund.”

Today Rochas Okorocha is subject to investigations relating to large sums of money that vanished from government whilst he was Governor.

“A panel set up to investigate the finances of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission on Thursday submitted its reports to the Governor, Emeka Ihedioha.

The panel headed by Romanus Ezeogu accused a former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, of allegedly diverting over N6bn that accrued to the commission during his administration.

But Okorocha has dismissed the allegation, saying the state governor was only on a vendetta mission.

Ezeogu said, “The panel findings on finance and Monterey Bay transactions in the commission showed that ex-governor Okorocha administered the accounts of the commission as a slush fund as over N6, 044,774,341.37 could not be accounted for.”
